Cumulative Knee Adductor Load and Clinical Measures in Knee Osteoarthritis
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a multi-factorial degenerative joint disaese resulting in pain and altered neuromuscular performance. Repetition and abnormal loading, combined with mechanical factors are attributed to the progression of knee OA [1,2], but the effects of repetitive weight bearing activity remain unclear. The cumulative knee adductor load (CKAL) is a parameter that represents the total integrated loading exposure during daily activity and provides a stable measure of total exposure to knee loading [3]. Increased CKAL is associated with increased pain [4], but the relationship between CKAL and clinical measures commonly used to assess knee OA have not been studied. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between CKAL and these clinical measures of knee OA.

Effect of obesity on knee joint biomechanics during gait in young adults
While there are many comorbidities associated with obesity, one of the more poorly understood is knee osteoarthritis through obesity. The purpose of this study was to compare the kinematics and kinetics of gait and cumulative knee adductor load, which represents the sum of repetitive exposures to medial knee loading during daily activity, between young obese adults with young, healthy-weight ad...
متن کاملKnee adduction moment relates to medial femoral and tibial cartilage morphology in clinical knee osteoarthritis.
The objective was to determine the extent to which the external peak knee adduction moment (KAM) and cumulative knee adductor load explained variation in medial cartilage morphology of the tibia and femur in knee osteoarthritis (OA). Sixty-two adults with clinical knee OA participated (61.5 ± 6.2 years). To determine KAM, inverse dynamics was applied to motion and force data of walking. Cumulat...
متن کاملThe effects of hip muscle strengthening on knee load, pain, and function in people with knee osteoarthritis: a protocol for a randomised, single-blind controlled trial
BACKGROUND Lower limb strengthening exercises are an important component of the treatment for knee osteoarthritis (OA). Strengthening the hip abductor and adductor muscles may influence joint loading and/or OA-related symptoms, but no study has evaluated these hypotheses directly. The aim of this randomised, single-blind controlled trial is to determine whether hip abductor and adductor muscle ...

Background and Aim: Knee osteoarthritis is a common degenerative disease that disables affected people. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcome of local quadriceps vibration in military personnel with moderate knee osteoarthritis. Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 76 military personnel with moderate knee osteoarthritis were studied through simple random sampling...
